Batukaru Temple
This temple is situated in the village of Wongaya Gede, the district of Penebel, in Tabanan regency, around 42 km to the west of Denpasar or approximately one hour drive by car from Denpasar, Bali. The word "Batukaru" actually means "coconut shell," and it refers to the name of the mountain on which the temple was built on its southern slope.
Watukaru Temple by some people called Batukaru Temple is one of the six biggest Hindu temples in Bali located in the middle of rain forest and under the mount Batukaru . It is situated in the peaceful area with fertile tropical trees and beautiful sound of the bird surrounds it. This temple built in the 11th century by the MPU Kuturan, a holy man who came from the island of Java.
